Antonio Barreto, Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining DLA, Barreto acted as independent media consultant giving advice on projects of Pan Regional reach, including a wide range of products, from the launching of new channels for Operations based on advertising, to IPTV and VOD systems.

Previously, Barreto was Senior Vice President for DirectTV Latin America, the leading satellite TV provider of the region. While working there, Barreto reduced the program planning costs by 50% and generated a profit increase for the first time in 8 years of company history. He was also responsible for the complete reorganization of the marketing mix for companies working in 28 countries.

Barreto was also Senior Vice President and General Manager of ESPN Latin America. Some of his remarkable works were the supervision of the biggest operation by subscription of the region and the launching of ESPN+ in Argentina. In addition, he also had the opportunity to launch the Latin American X-Games, an annual event transmitted from Rio de Janeiro for 50 million of Latin-American homes, creating a reference point for the extreme sports in the region.

Furthermore, his participation in Grupo Telefonica is also part of his professional career where he worked as Media Executive Director for Latin America and Grupo Globo, the leading multimedia company in Brazil, where he occupied the positions of CEO, Net Brazil and Sales and Marketing Manager for Net Services.

Barreto has been a pioneer in the new Pay-TV industry and the media in Latin America. In 1998 he was one of the main players involved in the first Pay-TV Service in Brazil, TV Showtime. In 1999, his company was acquired by Abril advertising group, becoming the launching platform for TVA, where Barreto also worked for 4 years as COO.

Antonio was awarded the degree of Engineer by the San Pablo University and a MBA by the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Brazil. He speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish fluently.
